Inspired by the nine sacred gemstones associated with the Navagrahas (celestial deities) in Vedic astrology, Navratna unfolds as a series of nine movements, each embodying a unique gemstone and its corresponding cosmic energy. While the work acknowledges the lineage of large-scale abstract ballets such as Jewels, it reimagines that tradition through a distinctly South Asian lens. Drawing on cultural symbolism, mythology, and Vedic philosophies of balance and perception, Navratna explores the shifting relationship between the seen and the unseen, inviting audiences into a world where appearance, energy, and meaning are in constant dialogue. Through a contemporary ballet vocabulary, the work reflects on illusion, not as deception, but as the ever-changing lens through which we experience reality.
